William Shakespeare's play, as performed by the Miracle
Players, is an original adaptation. The central elements of the plot are maintained but are abbreviated, so that the plot is revealed through action rather than rhetoric. The order and accuracy of the text, although greatly reduced, are kept in the original form. Despite the tragic nature of the play and the severity of the theme, The Miracle Players have taken a light-hearted approach to the text. We feel that this emphasizes the motives of the characters and brings to life the methods and mischief worked by the politicians to achieve their ultimate aim.
