Summer 2000 at the Roman Forum...
Julius Caesar
an adaptation of Shakespeare's classic
|
|
Following the success of the morality play Everyman in the summer of
1999, the English-language theatre group, Miracle Players,
was back at the Roman Forum with a 40 minute comic adaptation of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. Six actors, from Scotland, England, Australia, America and Italy engage in an original "street theatre" that uses ingenious
means to differentiate characters and reveal the plot. The audience is invited to participate as the Roman rabble and decide if Brutus or Antony has the best funeral speech. |
This play is not intended for Shakespearian purists!
The MIRACLE PLAYERS presented this 40 minute comic adaptation of "Julius
Caesar", free of charge, at the Roman Forum in front of the Mamertine
Prison. Julius Caesar played every Friday
evening at 7:30 pm, from June 9 until August 4, 2000.
