Chemists In Rome, chemist's shops can easily be identified by a red or a green cross. The opening time is usually from Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 1.00pm and 4pm to 7:30pm. Some pharmacies are also open on Saturday and Sunday on shifts. The nightshifts are open from 7.30pm until 8.30am. During this time, extra charge, such as 7,500 lire, is applied to the medicines. There are also some pharmacies open 24 hours which usually don't apply any extra costs during the night. To know which chemist's ones are open at week-end or on nightshift either to receive urgent medicines for disabled or old people you can call 06228941. Outside each store anyhow, they put up a list of the open chemist's shops near that area. The same list you can find in the Roman newspapers.

There is also a "Pharma-Tourist" brochure available for all visitors, translated in various languages and delivered to over 600 pharmacies in Rome. The most common questions asked the chemists are reported in this list, divided by pathologies. Pointing the number written beside each question the tourist can easily ask the chemist for whatever he needs.
